Our Story
Food you could trust without a thought.
Araya is many ways a love letter, first from my mom to me and now from me to you. I'll explain - But first a little backstory.
Growing up, the day before our flight from Kerala back to Dubai was always the same. My mother and grandmother would spend hours carefully packing our luggage with freshly milled spices, stone-ground flours, homemade pickles, and golden coconut oil sourced from farmers they knew by name.

An odd suitcase
Back then, I didn't realise why they did this. I wondered why we couldn't simply buy these things from a supermarket.
Years later, I fell into a deep rabbit hole: how our food is grown, who gets to grow it, and what industrialised food does to our bodies and the planet. Walking through a grocery store started to feel different and I remembered my old family ritual. I started to miss that access I had to good quality ingredients and food, sourced directly from farms we knew.
The Grocery Store
I saw supermarket aisles differently. Even "simple" staples are engineered for logistics - padded with gums, stripped of nutrition, diluted for margins.
I grew tired of the mental math just to trust my own pantry. Scanning labels. Googling additives. Wondering what I was really eating.
"Engineered for logistics,
not for the people eating it."
2.5 years at the source.
Araya is my way of bringing that childhood trust into the modern world. We spent two and a half years at the source - partnering with farmers across India and Sri Lanka who safeguard heirloom seeds and prioritise soil health through regenerative agriculture.
Every spice we carry comes from a named farm, a known farmer, a forest garden we've walked through ourselves.
04 — What's Next
Solving the modern pantry.
The next phase of our journey asks a harder question: how do we create the staples we love - using only clean inputs?
We are proving you don't need unnecessary chemical emulsifiers, gums and thickeners to build a high quality shelf - stable pantry staple. We are stripping away the ultra-processing to get back to real food.
05 — The Philosophy
Named for the forest.
Our name comes from the Sanskrit word Aranya - meaning 'forest.' Like a forest, we believe the food system should be a connected ecosystem. Real food from farms & farmers you can believe in.
We're starting small: with exceptional flavours, and with farmers who prioritise soil health, real ingredients, and transparent practices. Food that tastes like it should, because it was grown with care -and made without the unnecessary additives that have become normal.
This is Araya
From farms you can believe in, to a pantry you can finally trust.
Made without the unnecessary additives and shortcuts that have become normal. Food as it should be.
